Your wholesale cost for a drug is $360.00 for 500 tablets?. Your pharmacy charges a 32% mark-up and a dispensing fee of $5.25 per order. What is the full price for an order of 90 tablets?

1.)Determine the cost per tablet.
$360.00 divided by 500 = 0.72 cents

2.) Factor in the 32% markup.
0.72 x 1.32 = 0.9504 cents

3.)Calculate the quantity price.
0.9504 x 90 = $85.54 (be sure to round off)

4.) Add in the dispensing fee.
$85.54 + $5.25 = $90.79

If the marup rate is 32% why do you multiply by 1.36?

Where do you get 1.32

How do you get 1.32?

About the 1.32
by: Jerry

The 1.32 is not $1.32.

1.32 is used to simply add in the 32% Mark-up

By putting in the 1 before the .32, it does the addition automatically for you.

This is a shortcut that you'll want to learn.

Example: What's 32% of a 5 Dollars?

$5 X 0.32 = $1.60

Now, whats 5 dollars plus a 32% mark-up?

$5 X 1.32 = $6.60

See, it adds it in there automatically ;)

try this one::

WHOLESALE COST FOR 500 TABS = $360.00
" " " 90 TABS =$64.8 (i.e.360/500*90)

Now, putting 32% markup yields (64.8*.32+64.8)=$85.536

finally, adding dispensing price to final price after markup
$85.536+$5.25 = $90.79

360/500= 0.72

0.72*90= 64.8

64.8+32%= 85.54

85.54+5.25= 90.79

Try this,

1) $360.00 / 500 tablets = 0.72 cents a tablet

2) 0.72 x 90 tablets = $64.80

3) 64.80 x .32 = $20.74 for the mark up

4) add $64.80 + $20.74 = $85.54

5) Then add your 5.25

$85.54 + $5.25 = $90.79 <-- this is your answer.

Wholesale cost of the drug is 360/500= 72 cents

Total cost for 90 tablets= 90(.72)= $64.80
mark up 32% of 64.80 =$ 20.74
Dispensing fee is $5.25

Total cost = 64.80+20.74+5.25= $ 90.79

Is very helpful Kiley comment! But I have questions
Purchase drug for $150.00 for $100.00 tablets. Wants 40% mark up on prescription for 20 tablets. What would be the cost for the prescription in the rate?
